How we keep it fair

onTerms only works if the standard stays neutral. We monetise the rails, never the trust.

  • Verifying an agreement is free for humans, forever. The badge is a public good, not a tollbooth.
  • Incorporation-by-reference is free at every tier. The standard never needs our rails to be used.
  • Disputes are billed at flat, cost-recovery rates. Never a percentage of the outcome.
  • Real-cost items (KYC, QES) are explicit metered pass-throughs, so no plan is silently underwater.

The standard itself stays open

The onTerms corpus is published under CC-BY-4.0 and stewarded by an independent council. The company funds the council at arm’s length, publicly disclosed and capped. Corporate sustaining memberships fund the commons, so the text can never be held hostage to the rails.
